Critical thinking for students

In order to educate and fit our children to the necessities of this modern era is absolutely necessary to teach them how to inquire into the topics that they are learning; also, we need to motivate them to search and improve their critical thinking. Critical thinking is defined by Michael Screven as the intellectually disciplined process of applying, analyzing, conceptualizing and synthesizing information obtained by experience, reflection and observation. Those qualities are required in the modern reasoning, in order to innovate, create and produce knowledge, according to this, teaching critical thinking should be developed in students. As a result, critical thinking entails a better effective communication and develops problem solving abilities.
As it was mentioned, the critical thinking is defined as a process in which the student has to analyze conceptualize and synthesize information, this process develops in the students intellectual values such as clarity, accuracy, good reasoning, precision and depth reasoning (Screven. 1987). Lina Elder consider that the critical thinking is a self-guided and self-disciplined way of thinking which attempts to reason at the highest level of quality in a valuable intellectual way. The critical thinking involves three things; disposition to consider the problems and subjects that come within the range of self experience, knowledge of the methods of logical inquiry and reasoning and skill in applying those methods (Glaser. 1941). With these three steps correctly employed for the student, the person who applies critical thinking can find how to solve a problem more clearly and probably much more correctly.

A great advantage of developing critical thinking in students is that students will be prepared for inquires into the professional world.  Learning how to express your own opinion and how to argument it will be very useful for sustain their plan of creating a business or defending their grade thesis; moreover, they will know how to improve their knowledge by making questions and inferring. Richard Paul establishes that the critical thinking interacts with the process of reasoning, searching for purpose, resolve problems and assumption of concepts, according to this concept, the critical thinking exposes them to problems and solutions that can be related to the real world.
A well cultivated critical thinking process can be very beneficial for students in order to help them of formulating possible and structured solutions for different problems; during my childhood, just a few colleagues from school, including me, had a different point of view about the topic given, also we used to question everything that the teachers said; in one of the final projects, we got the higher grade, even making the least effort, due to we decided to search by ourselves for information to supply our work. Lina Elder establishes that students use the tools than critical thinking offers to them, like the concepts and principles that enable them to make a better analysis, also, those concepts improves their thinking, in order to understand and solve problems and situations which require a solution.
Taking into consideration all the previous statements, the critical thinking skill should be improved by every teacher to all their students; due to all benefits than this way of analysis can give to the students. If young people can learn how to reason properly during childhood, certainly the problems from the country and even the world will be solved without any conflict, that is why is very important inculcate on children the critical thinking, in order to develop a better future for them.

Writing a letter

Dear Sir/Miss

I am writing this letter to express my point of view about the grant of money that is supposed to be invested on a recreational facility for young people, and you it should be spent. As my point of view, I should consider to invest the money on a sport center.

First of all, I consider than invest the grant on the sport center is more relevant than spend it on an entertainment complex because is more useful for the citizens and their health. First of all, with an sport center, people form this and another cities can come and make some exercise, something very important for their lungs, heart and brain, because it is a fact than making a sport, can improve your welfare. As a result, the hospitals from the city will not be so filled.

Even though a modern cinema or a game center would be an excellent tourist attraction, a well invested sport center can enhance the citizens lifestyle, promoting ethical values, such as honesty, respect, and fair game play.

All things considered, I hope that the council takes into account my suggestion of making a sport center instead of a recreational complex and start works quickly.

Thanks for the attention given.
